In Japanese poetry the karigane, the call of wild geese, is the sound of autumn: a skein of birds crossing the evening sky on their way south. This dial paints that sky in ink and wash on textured paper. The sunset burns gold over misty mountains, sumi-ink bamboo rises on both sides, and six geese fly across the open sky. Navy enamel batons framed in gold mark the hours, doubled at twelve.

🪶 THE GEESE FLY
Every 40 seconds the skein crosses the sky, wings beating, fading in and fading out. Choose Flying across, Hovering (the birds stay where they are painted and drift gently), or Still.

🌫 DRIFTING MIST
Two layers of pale mist drift across the mountains at different speeds, the nearer one faster. It can be switched off.

🍃 A LEAF FALLS
Every 18 seconds a single sumi bamboo leaf falls from the canopy and drifts down the dial, turning as it goes. It can be switched off.

🌅 SKY FOLLOWS THE TIME (optional)
Switch it on and the sky changes with the hour: a pale silver daytime sky from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, a night sky from 7:30 PM to 3:30 AM, and the painted sunset at its deepest around 5:30 and 17:30, each turning gradually into the next over two hours.

🎋 HANDS CAST AS BAMBOO
The hands are cast in the shape of bamboo culms, nodes and all, in four metals: Aged brass, Blackened iron, Smoked silver, Shakudo. The seconds hand carries a small ring at its tail, and can be switched off.

🕰 ANALOG OR DIGITAL
Choose the bamboo hands, or the time in large numerals across the sky with AM/PM and seconds beside it. The numerals follow your watch's 12/24-hour setting.

📅 DATE WINDOW
The day of the month sits in a gold-framed window at six o'clock.

⌚ COMPLICATIONS
Three rings of washi and gold, set in a U above the date window:
- Steps (left)
- Day of the week (bottom)
- Battery (right, with a ring that fills as the battery does)
The rings come in three sizes or can be switched off, and the text comes in four inks: Sumi black, Indigo, Pine green, Deep crimson.

🌙 AMBIENT MODE
Optimised for always-on display. The painting, the geese, the mist, the leaf and the complications go out; the hour batons remain in pale gold with outlined hands, or the time in pale gold numerals in Digital.
