Tenshu is the main tower of a Japanese castle. On this dial it rises over its stone walls in black lacquer edged with gold, gold clouds drift across the night behind it, and the moat below carries the moon. Five round apertures in polished gold rims are set into the picture.

⚡ LIGHTNING OVER THE KEEP
Now and then the sky flickers, a bolt strikes the keep, and the flash fades over the clouds and the water. It happens a few times a minute, never on the same second twice in a row. Prefer a quiet night? Turn the lightning off.

⚙ A MOVEMENT BEHIND THE PLATE
The two upper apertures look through the plate onto turning wheels: a large wheel with a ruby hub and a smaller one turning against it, in each window. The plate itself cuts them, so the movement reads as running behind the dial. Either window can be switched to show a complication instead.
