Coding is how we talk to computers, but where do you start? Discover now! MIT Kids continues its exciting “how things work” leveled reader series tailor-made for the next generation of innovators, scientists, and thinkers.

Computers do many jobs for us: run games to play, help us make digital art, enable video calls to our family, and give directions that get us where we’re going. But computers can’t do anything without humans to give them instructions, a process known as coding. There are many programming languages, and the people who use them are called programmers. Could you be a programmer too? Colorful photos, fun facts, and clear text draw kids into this simple guide for planning a first coding project, fixing mistakes (or bugs), finding a coding platform to get started, and plenty more. Part of a welcoming leveled reader series written by experts and developed with educators on a range of STEM subjects, Discover Now! Coding begins with an informative note to caregivers and a table of contents and winds up with a picture glossary and index. This book is a Level 3 reader, perfect for curious kids who are becoming confident in their reading skills.
