About this game

Read the numbers, trust the colors, and turn a patch of unknown wilderness
into a kingdom. Village Sweeper is a fantasy settling puzzle that blends the
number-clue deduction of classic logic puzzles with the growth of a city
builder and the thrill of a gamble.
HOW TO PLAY
Each land is a 10 x 10 grid of unexplored tiles. Tap a tile to dig it open.
Your first dig in every land is always safe, and it founds your first
settlement.
A safe tile next to hidden "important sites" shows a number: how many of its
8 neighbors are important. Its color tells you which kinds they are.
- Red only = red / Yellow only = yellow / Blue only = blue
- Red + blue = purple / Red + yellow = orange / Blue + yellow = green
- All three = black
Use the clues to steer clear of danger. Long-press (or right-click) to plant
a flag so you never open a tile by accident.
THREE KINDS OF IMPORTANT SITES
RED - DANGER. Volcanoes, monster lairs, miasma swamps and storms. Opening one
costs a light and damages the land within 5 tiles: harder the closer it is,
gentler the farther it is. Flag a red site and it is sealed when the land is
charted, earning you a reward.
YELLOW - A GAMBLE. A treasure chest or a mimic, a fairy ring or a trickster
fae. Half the time you win gold, tools or new settlers. Half the time you do
not.
BLUE - A BLESSING. Ancient ruins, spirit altars, sacred springs, world trees
and oracle stones. They reward you and bless the land within 5 tiles,
boosting its harvests.
EVERY TILE YOU OPEN GROWS YOUR REALM
Safe tiles reveal farms, rice paddies, hunting groves, mines, windmills,
workshops, forts, castles, docks, rivers and new settlements. Number tiles
sometimes hide gold or tools.
Settlements attract people, and they get to work on their own: farming,
fishing, hunting, gathering, mining and crafting. Camps grow into hamlets,
villages, towns, cities and finally a capital, and roads link them together.
As the whole realm prospers, it enters new eras, from the Frontier Age
through the Hamlet, Kingdom and Arcane Ages to the Steam Age, and its
buildings change style with it.

CHART THE LAND, THEN REACH FOR MORE
Open every tile except the red ones to chart a land. You can also open every
ordinary tile and plant the correct flags on all red and yellow sites; blue
sites may stay closed.
When a land is charted, new unknown land appears beside it, and the old land
keeps growing. The deeper you go, the more dangers appear, and some bring a
cataclysm, such as a falling meteor, that costs two or more lights at once.
LIGHTS AND TOOLS
You start with a single light. A red site costs you one, and when your lights
go out, your chronicle ends. Every land you chart gives a light shard;
collect five to raise your maximum lights, up to five.
Spend gold at the market on:
- Scrying Crystal: reveal what a tile hides
- Builder's Hammer: raise a town, repair burnt land, build on empty ground
- Warding Charm: automatically absorbs the next disaster
- Lantern of Hope: restore one light
