A double helix of glowing glass stands through the dial: two glass tube backbones spiralling round each other, three full turns from top to bottom, joined by base pairs of light in alternating colours. Each tube has bright refracting edges and a lit core; the far side of the helix lies dimmer, thinner and softly out of focus, seen through the glass in front. At rest it glows dimmed behind the time, so the big digits read first.
Every hour, it turns
As the hour turns, the helix makes a full turn about its axis while a pulse of light runs up it - then it settles exactly where it was.
Tap to turn it
Tap the watch face and the helix turns for you.
Glowing lab digits
The time is lit in big digits of a clean lab-display typeface, a white core in a coloured glow.
Three glows
• Teal.
• Violet.
• Gold.
The helix, its base pairs, the digits and the capsules all take the colour.
Readings in glass capsules
Steps, unread notifications and battery, each in a glowing glass capsule at 9, 3 and 6 o'clock, the icon above the value, each lit in the colour of a base. The date glows in a capsule at the top. Put another app's complication in a slot and it shows that app's icon and text; set a slot to Empty and its capsule goes away.
Easy on the battery
The face changes only once a minute at rest; the turn plays only on a tap and on the hour. Always-on shows only the time as thin, dim outlines on black.
